  • escape the tourist world
  • enjoy the art and profit of doing nothing

  • exercise yoga and meditation with focus on the practice of the five Tibetans and it's benefits

“After the first shiatsu workshop I felt that shiatsu has an immediate and positive affect on body and mind. For me, yoga and shiatsu mutually support and inspire each other during practice. It is an experience that I would like to bring to and have others participate in as well. And it seems such a wonderful opportunity to give to the Via Vacare guests at Gili Gede!”

Foot reflex massage in January and February

From half January Via Vacare also host a special guest. Her offer is to give foot reflex massage and intuitive body massage. Already for years she has a successful practice in Holland.

"Zorah is my name and my passion is to really meet and  learn about myself and others, letting go and not keeping up. I live a happy life with my husband Frank in the small city of Son in Holland and have a nice practice house in my nice garden. Foot reflex massage belongs to nature cure and stimulates the self healing abilities of the body. Also it is very relaxing, I saw beautiful results.

At the moment I follow 4 year course at the academy for nature cure.

Bali and Lombok and The Gillis I have been before and enjoyed to be there. Reading the website from Via Vacare, I felt immediately I love to go there. To do the things that makes me happy and also have this holiday feeling! So I am looking forward to offer my massage to Via Vacare guests and contribute to this piece of paradis."

Yoga and shiatsu in Via Vacare by Marga Bijvoet in December

We welcome new guests from November 2008 on: we have still some places free for you in our world far from Western civilisation.

Marga Bijvoet (born Oldenzaal, Netherlands) is a certified yoga teacher and Iokai Shiatsu therapist. She teaches Hatha Yoga since 1998, and studied among others at the well-known B.K.S. Iyengar Yoga Institute in Amsterdam. Marga Bijvoet studied art history at the University of Groningen and obtained a PhD at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam (Netherlands) with “Art as Inquiry” researching interdisciplinary relationships in contemporary American and science.

She taught at various universities and art academies in Europe and the United States, organized exhibitions, wrote essays and articles, and worked as a translator.

A few years ago she decided to devote her life more fully to the practice and teaching of yoga and shiatsu. She travels regularly to India for yoga studies, and develops her shiatsu practice as a student of Kazunori Sasaki.

Shiatsu massage as therapy works effectively to relieve a number
of physical problems. However it can just as successfully be practiced
to regain or maintain health, wellness and vitality. Just like yoga,
shiatsu supports and corrects the functioning of the muscles, tendons and joints. In addition shiatsu positively affects the nervous system and can enhance the functions of the organs. After shiatsu treatment, the recipient generally feels very relaxed, free and light, concentrated and balanced. Somebody once described shiatsu as “having yoga done to you”. Yoga in this sense practiced, in turn inspires and supports shiatsu.

The yoga lessons at Via Vacare will therefore focus on learning to convert stress into relaxation via breathing exercises, asanas (postures), and meditation techniques.
